PN:
Too busy playing outside in the -10°C “All Seasons Playground™” called Vernon to rant. Some virtual lint that’s been gathering for days (and weeks) under my virtual bed follows……. or is it virtual verbal diarrhea?
Best line ‘o the week:
Something a Liberal / Progressive was overheard saying: ” Yes, yes, we know conservatism works in practice, but will it work in theory?” – from a Bill Whittle dialogue (original source unknown).
Best return to school speech (too bad no one in Kanuckistan has the ‘nads to speak it):

Comments you noble educators out there?
Best athletic talent under 13 years I’ve seen anything about lately is Jordan McCabe. I don’t care for basketball, but this young man has a future (even though he’s white – there’s always mahogany stain):

There is skill, then there’s talent. Amen…., and I’ll have a beer! Good to know your talent….
Best quote last week from a Canadian politician, Stephen Harper: “There is one law for all Canadians, and no religious group should expect special treatment when it comes to enforcement of the law.”
Statement of rebuke to the RCMP regarding their apology to Ottawa’s Muslim community over arresting terrorist suspects during Ramadan.
Best US political humor video of the week. Ya, ya, we all abhor violence against women….. but this here is funny! It is a blow against the soft tyranny of lil’ Nancy’s team:

Best dance moves performed by troops in Iraq. The video is almost 5 years old. Are all of these people still alive? Who knows……. It almost makes ME want to move (it):

Best off the wall artwork (from LaserBread) –
It’s called Rice Krispy Henge……. I’m struck dumb……
Best “Decade at a Glance” graphic –
Note the penetration of cellular / mobile communications. And the addition of more innocent souls – equivalent to 3X the population of the USA – in only 10 years. How long will they remain innocent? Just think of how competitive the “charity hustle” is going to become. The fact isn’t broken out, but the western cultures are responsible for very few of those souls……
Best interesting but useless exercise –
This is the BarCode for little fatty Drover. You can do yours at – http://www.barcodeart.com/art/yourself/yourself.html
Best music / science attempt is a song about the periodic table. You may have heard the original from waaaay back in the ’50’s by Tom Lehrer (if not – [youtube http://youtube.com/w/?v=GFIvXVMbII0] ). This new one is set to rock music, and different words –
[youtube http://youtube.com/w/?v=xbf0HdLwLZA&feature=related]
It’s not complete, but it’s contemporary, rock – GOLD! Give it an “A” for NOT mentioning pimps, ho’s, or beaaaaachez, or trying to rap.
Best New Year’s Resolution cartoon –
Comment? That’s only XGA – not HD…… my, my….. Engrish is a wonderful playground, and so is technology. Here’s a history of “resolution” if you care – http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/computer/video-resolution.htm
Best starting point for free on line classic writings. Check it out! All those books you shoulda / woulda / coulda read but didn’t (’cause you had more important things to do) are available via your computer / media device screen. Here’s the starting point:
A tote of cheer, some reading glasses, and a high speed Internet link……. these are the comforts! Maybe some Piggy Puffs, too……
Joe (Besterest) Mekanic
p.s. R, C & F to follow:
And this Ramirez, which is an instant classic, in defense of the First Amendment. What f**king busybodies get up to when they can’t fix the real problems. –
Another Ramirez classic. The man is a national treasure. AND, he’s not an illegal! –
Cox & Forkum from 2002 (!). Some things are determined to stay the same –
Forkum’s comment about the following cartoon (2008) is “You think Hugo Chavez is jealous?” –
