Amen! As the clock ticks away the years my common sense has drifted from the norm. How else to explain simple things like servicing an automobile or truck? In Dave’s World® vehicles are simple to maintain and repair. Like my first Ford, a 1939 sedan. Plugs and points tune-up an hour and a half tops. That’s while having a beer or two and chatting with a friend. My Expedition 5.4L? Jesus on a Moped, you can find some braggarts on the Internet that insist they do it in less than 5 hours, but it hasn’t been my pleasure….. and there are no points or distributor! Oil change? I and Jesus weep. I have only seen one Ford in the last 20 years that when you remove the oil filter it DOESN’T drip oil all over the engine mount crossmember, or wiring harness, or steering mechanism. No common sense.
Then there is the ISIS (ISIL) wackjobbery added to the general Islamic terror background noise of our time. Savages running loose. Common sense says if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, (et cetera), get some oranges and shoot the bastard for dinner. Not so the most powerful Muslim in the world. That would be Barrack Insane O’Bambi. He is a sympathizer. How long do you wait for the threats and promises to come true? They are already on this continent and causing disturbances. My common sense says put your money where their mouth is: call their bet, and raise. Apologists aside, it really doesn’t matter what the core cause is (religion, “poverty”, bad programming). They are a threat to civilization – eliminate the threat. Plenty of time for the historians / social workers / “community organizers” / psychiatrists / sociologists / truck drivers to delve into the “true” causes.
And keep the politicians out of the way after the “GO!” is given to the fighting men and women. Victory has not been vanquished as an objective in war, has it? Or has the word been co-opted to mean something else? Whatever……

As an Expressive (social styles), I am infamous for starting projects and finishing very few.
One “project” I’ve had on my mind for years (and years) is to winter somewhere less harsh than Vernon. That sounds wimpy, da? Vernon has a very mild climate most winters. Nevertheless, old projects never die, they gather a unique patina over time; layer upon layer of subjective dreams, rationales galore, yearnings. Occasionally, an objective thought or fact floats by to shine a spotlight of sanity over the derelict project wallowing in an eddy of time and space (with music if yer lucky).
This year, The Force is strong. Very strong….. This is Mabel. She replaced Phoebe and Joan Outback this year as the center point of the “Winter Away” project. –
Dream on, young David. The “Five Year Plan” is entering it’s 13th year. Use the Force to avoid the Farce……
This Week
I’m driving for Dustin to deliver fruit to Hutterite colonies in AB and SK. Estimate 10 to 12 days on and off the road. May or may not be a rant next Sunday, but rant again I will….. One project I seem to be able to do…….

There are no “slaves” (a la 18th & 19th century definition) in North America today. No sons and daughters of slaves either. I’d venture very few if any grandsons or granddaughters still alive. Yet there is still a movement for reparations. The “phenomenon” of slavery in human history is not really a phenomenon, but a fact. Here are some facts about Afro-Americans in the U.S. compared to the rest of the world. This is a graph from a well researched article about slavery (and reparations). The graph defeats the argument that the descendants of slaves in North America are somehow suffering financially –
The argument for reparations for slave’s descendents has so many twists and turns that the logic quickly disappears. If there had been no slavery, there would be no “founding” population of Africans in North America. Read the article here:

A week of semi OK drift into autumn. The leaves continue to yellow and red. The thermometer is averaging lower and lower. The “mother of all oak trees” in my back yard hasn’t quite got the memo yet – a few leaves falling, mostly green, and she’s holding the acorn assault for a later date. Seems the advent of cold weather is inevitable. Maybe AB and SK will be warmer? Better take a sweater just in case……
