On Thursday, we went for cataract surgery.
After a 1 1/2 year wait, the most excellent doctor Hollands replaced our right eye lens with a marvel of medical technology.
Here is a before and after picture set. First, pirate Joe, eye patch in place –
This surgery took very little time – we were in and out of the operating room in less than a half hour.
What an amazing technological triumph!
The methodology and mechanics of it in this short video demonstration.
On Thursday morning, vision performance in our right eye was dismal – shapes, pastel colors, not much else.
Today, on Sunday, the vision in our right eye exceeds that of the left, which is 20/20.
Two weeks of eye drops will signal the end of the process.

Hillary Clinton is unfit for government office. Joe and I believe she should be behind bars, as we have stated in this rant many times.

To minimize the seriousness of the charges by saying “all politicians are criminals” is a straw-man argument.
The legal system is integral to freedom, and is the only methodology in place to counteract criminal behavior while suppressing anarchy.
How serious are the charges?
Martha Stewart spent 5 months in prison and 5 months under house arrest for violating statute 18USC§1001 – False Statements. Under this code, Martha was found guilty of lying to a Federal agent. Important detail: you don’t have to be under oath in this situation. The number of times Hillary Clinton has done the same? You’d have to take your socks off (to count them all). Even then, you may have to borrow a friends fingers and toes to tally the sum.
Consider General David Petraus. After a stellar military career, he resigned his position as chief of the CIA in disgrace over an affair with his biographer and more specifically, statute 18USC§1924 – Unauthorized Removal And Retention Of Classified Documents Or Material, when it was revealed she had seen confidential documents. He did not go to prison, but is under a 2 year probation. How about that Hillary? Once again, take off yer socks.

Backward to the Future
The incandescent light bulb is a marvel.
Born over 100 years ago, it has been responsible for improving the lives of billions of individuals by allowing cheap, clean, efficient light to extend productive time into darkness.
Governments (Western governments) “outlawed” the incandescent bulb 10 + years ago for trumped up charges of “inefficiency” – not enough light output (candle power) per energy unit consumed.
Anyone living in a rural area of Canada in the past 100 years can cry “Bullshit!!” to that claim, for the other benefit of the incandescent bulb is heat.
In the frozen tundra of Canada, heat is a blessed commodity. We here are between ice ages. The average “snow pack” over Canada in the last 1.8 million or so years (Pleistocene) is more than a mile of ice….. deep. (Joe’s rough estimate – not scientific data).
As we have stated before, the lowly incandescent bulb has been used by us to heat as well as light.
Well houses, well shafts, perishable storage spaces, the light bulb has been used in Canada (and other inhospitable climates) for a century to provide heat as well as light, to keep off the boogieman of frost.
The marvelous scientists at MIT have improved the incandescent light bulb. They have made it more efficient than an LED. Story here.

Joe and I are guilty of “hoarding” incandescent bulbs.
With the invention of an efficient incandescent bulb, will manufacturing return to this technology?
Will it be as cheap and reliable as the past?
And when oh LOrD will government dunderheads ever leave off making technical and scientific judgements without the input of science?

This week in Vernon has been a treasure.
There is no rescinding the early arrival of summer-like weather.
Every day has been a treat – warm to very warm, few clouds, little wind, no rain.
Joe has become very accustomed to this blessing.
He expects it to last until next April, then begin again.
We surmise the weather is one month ahead of the average.
