Another interesting week fighting the Canadian weather in Saskatchewan and western Manitoba. Brrrrrrrr.! I like driving big trucks but – 37 Celsius is a heart breaker…. Maybe I’m way to weak and unmanly…..
Cold weather does bring out the best in one, da? This picture looks quite placid – sunshine, minimal snow, no trauma. A fold up beach chair. What isn’t evident was what led to this picture of tools in use. I had to repair the landing gear crank handle on the reefer unit –
Why did the crank handle break? Can’t say for certain, but the -21 Celsius temperature, many years of wear, and very very stiff grease in the gearbox might have contributed. Great way to start the day……
Portage la Prairie was much colder with huge wind. The skill set I bring to the job required us to chain up to get out of a flat field with 6 inches of snow. And to put one half of the drivers (passenger side) in a very steep ditch that was hidden by snow; this lifted the inside trailer wheels off the ground….. And to pull start the truck ’cause the battery set froze solid and wouldn’t crank the engine. All that on one day!
Next day I got stuck in the Ferris compound and had to chain up once again.
I almost lost some weight……….
Sheila, after our conversation about big trucks I thought you might appreciate a picture of the driver’s position in the Peterbilt I was driving –
Another week without massive ranting. Staying busy is indirectly related to ranting methinks. However, there are a few notable items which caught my eye this week…………
GUNS AND MORE GUNS
An excellent argument……for banishing liberals. Here’s a post at the Sacred Cow Slaughterhouse guaranteed to piss everyone off:
I have added MIchael Williamson to my favorite blog list…… Sacred Cow Slaughterhouse here:
BELIEVABLE AND TRUE DEPT.
It is true! Some people actually believe the fantasy –
Caption: Wish I had a better camera but the bumper sticker said “Socialism because people matter more than profits”. I guess he didn’t hear about Stalin starving millions or Pol Pot slaughtering millions or Hitler. I’m shocked he doesn’t have a Che sticker.
BLINDING ME WITH SCIENCE:
Anthropology is a wonderful fantasy. Or reality. Your choice. Most interesting article:
Quote from the above – If this is all only skin-deep, why are forensic anthropologists able to identify a person’s race simply by examining their bones?
HEY! Greenies! Read the following article about the relationship between wind farms and carbon dioxide:

This is the perfect night table for your bedroom, David:
An excellent choice until Alzheimer’s Disease sets in permanently……
Message from God –
The Cowgary weather ending this week has been fantastic. Above zero! Vernon has been above zero too! Is spring nigh??
