Friday – A Fishy Day

Catholic or not (Fish Friday myths and reality statements abound on the Intertubes), the expression “something’s fishy about this”, or as Shakespeare stated “something is rotten in the state of Denmark” usually means a corruptness is in the offing.

Had Shakespeare expressed the sentiment slightly different (something fishy in the state of Denmark) it would allow a different interpretation, for who is the national symbol of Denmark? You got it, the little Mermaid –

Certainly fishy-like, but more of a unique or pleasant surprise….. nay, not strong enough. More like a bloody miracle!

It is with this thought in mind I present to you a sign. A sign of a miracle. Perhaps, indeed, a miracle itself!

Sunday – Loose in the Land of Loonies

Reflexion on Sunday fits the Christian backdrop of my upbringing.

Today I’m reflecting on the conflict triad: man vs man, man vs himself, man vs elements.

I have attended very few concerts in my life. Seasons tickets to the opera or philharmonic not withstanding, any venue which attracts very large numbers of people frightens me. After all, I’ve seen lots of dusters where the cattle are stampeded as a weapon, or the buffalo herd mows down everything in its path.

Why should it be any different for huge crowds of people? After all, if driven to “fight or flight” decision making, people make extremely poor choices or behave terribly.
