Sunday Rant – 1324

PN:

Joe’s Comment – I have some thoughts centered around the word “Fungibility”.
The word “fungible” means “capable of being exchanged or interchanged” or “something such as a currency, share, or goods, that can easily be exchanged for others of the same value and type”.  Fungible is most commonly used in law or commerce to imply same same, to imply interchangeability.
On Friday morning I read in the Epoch Times morning brief that the population of Canada has increased by one million in only 9 months – now 41 million.
The words of Andrew Breitbart (RIP) immediately come to mind “politics is downstream of culture“.
What in the world is the federal government up to?
The million soul increase is a 2.5% bump.
I will bet the farm that the addition is not a million Europeans or Americans or Australians.  Not of average IQ = 100 either.
The million are from cultures unlike Canada’s.  I will bet the farm again (that’s two farms) that the majority of these people are not white, do not speak English, and are not particularly educated or trained in the fields and endeavors that are the economic engine of Canada.  As for their politics and morals, an open question.
People are NOT FUNGIBLE.
You can’t take a bunch of Somali pirates and insert them into Bay Street – Toronto’s financial district – and expect harmony, productivity, and success.
This leads to several conclusions that I feel are incontrovertible.
1.  The Culture of Canada cannot survive such dilution.
2.  There is no intention of inserting these immigrants (legal or not) into positions of influence or power – they are pawns
3.  The majority of Canadians have no idea that this is happening, and if they did, the vast majority would not approve.
4.  The fiscal cost will be dwarfed by the impact to the culture and the social fabric.  I’m talking crime, and misery for innocent folks.  I’m talking no recourse.  I’m talking coercion, censorship, and punitive action to those who speak up.
Someone, somewhere, somehow, wants Canada to die.
The question then is what does Canada become?
Is it a Phoenix story, reborn from its own ashes?
In the parlance of John McEnro:

Just what, in the name of Christ, are you bastards doing to this country?
Indeed, to all of the countries of the West?
You cannot be serious.
In any case, you cannot succeed.
The resistance is growing.

The Culture

Good Friday
Joe and I were raised in the Anglican branch of Christianity.
That doesn’t stop us from enjoying some Katie Hopkin on this Easter weekend:

Best Liquor Commercials
Joe admits that in the past, the very sight of beautiful women would get him to buy and consume alcohol.
Thankfully, Joe was spared the sight  in a TV commercial, because he didn’t watch TV.
Fortunately, Joe and I no longer drink.
We do think that advertisers and marketing specialists take advantage of human weakness in their effort to peddle goods and services to an unsuspecting public.
Men make up a great portion of the unsuspecting.
Joe and I did enjoy the teasing semi-erotic inferences built in to a crass sales pitch in every one of the ads in this video.  Joe watched more than once.
That is Salma Hayek, isn’t she?  Joe could use a whiskey….:

Neil Oliver
The battle of lies.
How long will the “powers that be” promote their agenda with lies that defy what our eyes and minds clearly see as not so?
Is it a psychosis?
Is it a “hold my beer” challenge to determine who or whom the GOAT liar is?
(GOAT = Greatest Of All Times)
Is it about power and wealth?
Or is it a grand farce, a joke, a “fart in your general direction”?  (ht to Monty Python)
As the lies stack upon lies, lining the container of lies with more lies, supported on a foundation of lies reinforced with lies and by lies, where does a sane person plant their feet, their foundation of truths?
Joe and I are siding with Mr. Oliver – lies seem to have a life of their own.  The best counter is to tell the truth and face the consequences:

Jason Siles – Blue Collar Logic
A complement to the piece on lying by Neil Oliver (above).
Jason talks about a recent Rasmussen poll that reveals dark evil intent by the progressive left – the willingness to discard truth, the willingness to cheat and lie, the willingness to employ any corrupt behavior in pursuit of their objective.
This is not acceptable, even if their objective were noble and just and pure.
Their objective is unlimited control of others, power beyond dimension, and to control the purse strings of all wealth.
Once more, Joe and I find ourselves in accord with Mr. Siles:

South Park
Joe and I think that South Park might be the moral authority of the West.
We have our favorites over the years (Joe damn near died laughing at the rug licking episode).
Seeing as though it is Easter weekend, how about a little humor at the expense of the Mormon “religion”:

An interview with Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of South Park (1997 –  still going strong).  Two best friends making each other laugh.
Life can be beautiful if you work at it:

Tulsi Gabbard
Only 11 years from Democrat rising star to CPAC speaker!  In her first year as an elected Democrat, she rose to the position of vice chair of the Democrat Party Committee.
Joe and I like her message.
We also like her fortitude.
Unlike a long list of Democrat players, she didn’t capitalize on her insider knowledge when she was in congress.
She actually did what they all should do – represent those who elected her.
Joe predicts that she will rise in the political arena.
Whether as a Republican or an Independent he will not say:

Meat
Ivor Cummins promotes the short presentation by Brian Sanders that details the facts about the nutritional value of meat, especially red meat.
The same video embedded in Mr. Cummins’ release was featured in “Sunday Rant – 2721“.
No excuses from Joe and I.  It is an accurate reading of red meat and nutrition.
As far as CO2 and “fossil fuels” not so much.  Watch it as brain food!:

Joe’s Garage

Baltimore Marine Accident
On Tuesday, March 26th, at approximately 1:25 a.m., the container ship Dali struck one of the main pilings supporting the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore MD.  There are many Ub2b videos of the incident, and more opinions about what happened than there are stars in the sky.
Joe and I have watched a number of them.  We chose to include the following.
We were fascinated at how frail the bridge appears when subjected to a fatal disruption of a support pier.  The bridge is a cable type continuous suspension design.  Very stable in torsion, tension, and compression until one or more of those parameters are driven beyond design capacity.
Then it falls like a house of cards, as you can see in the video.
Joe says no more bridge for him!
He’d rather go around:

Another perspective of the same event.  A tragedy.  Note that the piers are NOT protected by “dolphins”.  A simple addition of dolphins would have prevented such an accident from occurring.  Joe questions the design objectives – surely safety or accident risk analysis were part of the design frame of reference?:

Lake Speed Jr. – Oil Specialist
Dave at Dave’s Automotive and his sons meet Lake Speed Jr.
What ensues is a detailed and scientific history of oil additives, oil characteristics, and government dictum / interference.
Of special interest is the new piston design discussed, with second groove “gap-less ring”.
Joe and I learned muchly:

Land Speed Record
A brief history of the land speed record, and those folks who want the next.
The last record was set in September of 1997 by Andy Green in the Thrust SSC – 713.99 mph.
The next record?
There are some mad dogs (and Englishmen) reaching for 1000 mph.
Joe and I aren’t interested, although the technology is fantastic.
We don’t see the point – other than the challenge.  Right up there with mountain climbing – because it is there!   Joe says this one fits in the different strokes category:

Joe’s Comment – Spring seems to have arrived.  As much time as I spend bitching about the weather, you’d think I’d be tickled pink, but no dice.
I think Winter is a damn insult.
However, when I get all worked up about something that is pissing me off, I stop and think about how soft my life has been.
The “Shipwrecked” segment below is about a family of 6 who decided to buy a sail boat and travel the world.  It ended catastrophically, but not fatally or tragically.
The story is told by a man who was 18 years of age when he experienced a rude end to a lovely dream.
I wonder if I could survive the same quantum level of distress at any age.
Further down in this rant is a “PBY Catalina” segment of another family who bought a converted flying boat and decided to travel the world.  Their story ended in the loss of the aircraft while fleeing for their lives.  The family survived.  Once again, I wonder if I could function in the same circumstance.
My natural fallback might not be of heroic nature.  It might be a lesser version of Captain Obvious.  The question in my mind: is it if or is it when?
The state of the culture and the world seems very unstable at present.
Another question: is one aware of a manifest sign before the catastrophic  event….. or is there none?
Asking for a friend.

Real Adventures

Shipwrecked
The following story is about survival.
Douglas Robertson was sailing around the world with his family when 200 miles west of the Galapagos Islands their sailing ship, Lucette, was sunk by killer whales.
They managed to inflate a life raft, and salvage the dingy they used for shore visits.
Douglas tells the story of how his family of 6 spent 38 days at sea, in a raft and a dingy, before their rescue by a Japanese fishing boat named Toka Maru.
In this video, Douglas is recounting, at 68 years of age, what happened 50 years ago when he was 18 years old.
Bloody amazing!

Climate – The Movie
A documentary that actually addresses the climate hoax with facts, data, analysis, and reason.  This video is from the CO2 Coalition.  Many of the speakers have been featured on this rant over the years.
There are a long list of notables in the video.
This video documentary should be mandatory viewing for all to see (thank you Ms. E. Thrasher):

Kent Carnivore – Ulcerative Colitis
Several weeks ago this rant featured a couple of very clever videos constructed by Lee Copus (aka Kent Carnivore; Sunday Rant – 0524).
Another advocate of the carnivore diet.
Mr. Copus seems to be an intelligent and creative young man.  Joe and I pondered what inspired him to spend the time building such interesting and detailed Ub2b videos.
The following interview of “Kent Carnivore” by Dr. Shawn Baker answers that question.
Mr. Copus was being slowly destroyed by the medical community dedicated to the ideal of “do no harm”, dedicated to helping and healing.
Net result?
Mr. Copus lost most of his intestine, and now wears a colostomy bag.
Joe’s reaction would be rage.  Joe would need therapy because the very people dedicated to “saving lives” so totally missed the mark.
According to Mr. Copus, the “authorities” are uninterested in his story.
Our hat is off to Mr. Copus for sharing his troubles, his solution(s), and being vocal in the nutrition revolution.
People like Joe and me have a more or less “hearty” digestive tract, and survived well into our 60s before trouble manifested.  A less than ideal diet means discomfort, perhaps irritation or pain.
The good folks like Mr. Copus (and many friends) are further out toward the edges of the Bell Curve of “health”, where issues as basic as food choices become a matter of survival.  These are the people who benefit the most from “alternative” solutions.  The “Main Stream” is about as useful as the government at recognizing reality and providing viable solutions for people outside the “normal” spectrum.
Thanks to Dr. Baker for the interview:

Trial Site News
Daniel O’Connor created the website “Trial Site News“.
He isn’t a journalist or a scientist or a doctor.
His motivation is to “tell all” (thank you Ms. E. Thrasher).
The focus it to make public ALL INFORMATION available; to make information about science / medicine / censorship transparent: “for all to see” (thanks again, Ms. E. Thrasher).  Mr. O’Connor is a freedom fighter:

Edison Motors
Joe and I have been following the development of Edison Motors.
A B.C. start-up, in one year they have managed to design, build, and register their version of a heavy truck hybrid.
Joe is one hundred percent behind this concept.
Joe and I are also fans of “Watch Wes Work”.  Wes has many videos featuring a variety of machinery and vehicles in need of Wes’ repair magic.
In this video, Wes, an engineer, does an analysis of the Edison products.
A well constructed critique that will engender much debate and discussion:

Engine Break In
There is a specific process to break in a re-built or newly assembled engine.
Lake Speed Jr. and Dyno Don explain the problems – rings vs cam – and describe the solution.  A must see for any engine builder:

Head Shots
Joe found this video very informational.

Heavy Trucks of Yesteryear
The M26 Dragon Wagon from World War II was an amazing workhorse.
As the presenter says, logistics and provisioning is what wins wars.
This original “monster truck” weighed over 50 tons, and could carry legendary loads.  What technology for its time!  Everything was manual or hydraulic – not one damn computer to be found.  Well thought out and executed, this beautiful truck was used right up until the space shuttle days:

PBY Catalina
Joe and I used to play in one of these beauties long ago and far away in Calgary AB when we was a child.  A fascinating aircraft.
After the Second World War, some were converted to serve as Landseaire luxury flying yachts.  The story about the airship is interesting.
The story of what happened to the Kendall family while touring Saudi Arabia is enough to make you puke.
Joe says the inhabitants of that part of the world are a bunch of maniac cowardly imbeciles.  Anyone who would shoot up a PBY is an enemy.
A beautiful aircraft with a marvelous purpose – a family tour bus in the sky.
Shot to shit by a bunch of ignorant third world minus cretins.  Joe farts in your general direction:

Joe and I remember a movie from the ’70s called “Steelyard Blues”, with Donald Sutherland, some Hollywood bimbos, starring a PBY.  Which made Joe ponder…..
The PBY was everywhere doing everything.  Here’s a documentary about an unsung hero-plane with thoroughbred lineage:

Joe’s Comment – I’m convinced Spring has sprung.
The grass is riz.  The daffodildos by the garage are struggling their way up through the weeds, through the debris of last year’s death by Winter.
Hope is in the breast.
Smile is on the face.
Then we read the Druthers paper, featuring a certified NDP “death cult” legislation being considered –
Sure enough, those wacky NDP bastards have no social awareness in their soul.
So busy trying to guarantee outcome.
I try not to think about politics, I really do.
The onset of Spring is filling my being.
Outside of outright nuclear war in downtown Vernon BC, not much could put a dent on my feeling of being a mud pecker bon vivant.
A thick steak.
Some cool sparkling water.
A warm sunny day…..
Life is, indeed, good (thank you Jimmy B.).
Life will be gooder.  That’s my pledge.

Quick Dick McDick
Canada’s agrarian ambassador to the world is singing!
While hauling canola from his farm to the elevator in very cold weather.
What a great setup Quick Dick has – a true one man operation.
Joe and I remember visits (and working) on family farms way back before time began – we’re talking ’50s (as kids) and ’60s (as teens).
What Quick Dick does by himself in a day took our relatives many days and many workers.  Technology has made high individual productivity a reality.
Visions of Luke Skywalker living with Owen and Beru Lars at their moisture farm on planet Tatooine…… hating the work, wanting to leave the planet –
The big difference is Quick Dick loves the life, and has no desire to leave the planet.  Spoiler – not for the perfect pitch is a must crowd:

Degrowth
John Stossel opens the bag of the next, new, loonie left crusade – “Degrowth“.
Let’s stop growth and save the planet!
Every season seems to bring a new, absolutely crackpot Chicken Little calamity.
The objective seems to be frighten as many of the susceptible as possible.
What a clown show.
Good grief, life is as good as it has ever been.  Are the new prophets and visionaries some breed of incipient Calvinists?  Perhaps they are self-flagellating Catholics.  Opus Dei anyone? Ah!  I miss the good old times…..
“Punish me, for life is too good and I am not worthy” must be the theme of their cattle call.
In true Orwellian fashion, the left has turned  upside-down the true story of what the outcome would be if capitalism were abolished and forbidden.
No “worker’s paradise” or “garden of Eden” to be found; only abject poverty and misery.
We have watched Mr. Stossel for years.  The first inclusion of him / his work was in Sunday Rant – 4413.  That, dear readers, was 10 years and 19 weeks ago.
He delivered the goods then, and he still does.
Bonus – he’s a Libertarian!:

The loonie Left might not read much.  Joe thinks the vast majority on the Left tend to think with emotion, not logic.  They disregard the lessons of history.  For the most part, well intentioned but hopelessly misdirected.
Joe has a solution!  A few quotes from the man who stopped Hitler –

Elon Musk & Saad Gadd
An interesting conversation.
Two unique and independent thinkers have a friendly chat.
The chat is friendly, but the subject matter is serious and consequential.

Ethanol Fuel
The following video from Engineering Explained is 2+ years old.
The number of views at the time of embedding in this rant is 2.3+ million.
Joe says this video and others like it should be mandatory viewing.
Joe and I have felt that from the inception, “green” gasoline was a politically driven fraud.  After all, farmers vote, don’t they?
It is not that ethanol added to gasoline is an inferior fuel.
The ethanol increases the octane rating (or number) of the gasoline.  However, there are penalties: less energy per unit measure, ergo fewer miles per gallon.
A second penalty is the ethanol sublimates – it absorbs moisture.  The moisture then causes problems in the fuel systems of vehicles not designed to burn such fuel.
Joe and I think that corn ethanol is best used as a blended liquor.  Use the rest of the land to ranch.  The world needs more ungulates:

A further exploration of the subject from the same source, Engineering Explained. More to WIIFM (what’s in it for me?), if you use ethanol fuel in your vehicle(s), this is what you can expect.
As usual in any situation, there are benefits and there are penalties.
Joe and I would burn only marine gas if we could get away with it.
Green is a color, not a life saving ideology.
However, dyed fuel, if “discovered” by the “authorities” being used in an unauthorized application, or method, will drain your wallet of beaucoup green:

Cutting Edge Engineering Australia
Joe and I are in wonder and admire those who work with large machinery.
CEEA produces videos that repair or rebuild or renew heavy machine parts.
It is an entirely different mindset.
We have watched many “rescues” of very expensive machinery being rejuvenated economically by CEEA.
In the following video, Kurtis refurbishes a Cat D11 final drive.  His wife Karen videos.
The dog, Homeless, and the various birds are all part of the team.
Joe wishes we had been born into a family of tool and die makers.
It really turns his crank!:
